Photo - 10 February 2011 - This photo shows a dry limestone feature known as a "cadole", which is common in the Beaujolais and Burgundy regions of France. They vary enormously in form, with some, such as the one shown here being architectural delights. The Golden Stones region of the Beaujolais and the Cote Maconnais area west of Tournus have some fine examples. More details of their use and function is provided in our independent walking holiday guide notes. Why not take a look at more details of our self guided French walking tour in the golden stones area of the Beaujolais - Medieval Village tour. |

One of the iconic symbols of the Grand crus region of the Beaujolais wine region of France. The Moulin a Vent dates from the 15th century before these slopes became home to one of the best known Beaujolais wines. It's quality comes from its mangenese rich soil which restricts yields creating a full bodied wine which in good years can last upto 20 years. This French wine, known around the world is called the Lord of the Beaujolais. See more information on our self-guided walking holiday through the Beaujolais grand crus region: Beaujolais Wine Trail. |
