LotLet yourself be enchanted by the charm and beauty of the wonderful Célé and Lot Valleys. Less well known than the Dordogne, the Célé and Lot valleys will leave you captivated by their beauty. Our linear self-guided walking holiday begins in Figeac, a beautiful town with an unsoilt medieval centre and then travels down stream ending in Cahors, home of the Malbec vineyards. You’ll follow quiet walking trails through unspoilt countryside in the protected regional park Causses du Quercy, with rocky cliffs, home to some wonderful views and mighty chateaux overhanging majestic valleys. Your independent walking holiday will pass through a number of historic villages such as St-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the prettiest villages in France, perched precariously above the river Lot. You'll also pass through a number of less well know but beautiful villages such as Marcilhac sur Cele, centred on its ancient abbey and Vers squeezed between huge cliffs and the river Lot. At the village of Cabrerets you'll have the opportunity to visit the famous caves of Pech Merle with important pre-historic cave paintings. You'll finish your walking tour at Cahors, famous for its wines and its 14th century bridge allowing access to the town. |
