Maison de Marguerite, Southern France
La Maison de Marguerie is a B&B style guest house located in the Baronnies region of northern Provence in France and is one of the guest houses used during both our guided walking holiday and self-guided walking tour of this unspoilt region of southern France. See details of our French guided holiday - Les Baronnies: Secret Provence.
This small guest house is located at about 700m up in the hills close to the historic village of Montbrun les Bains, classed as one of the prettiest villages in France. It provides quality accommodation in a relaxed and authentic setting, ideal for our French walking holidays. The region forms part of what is known as the Drome Provencial. Les Baronnies is a secret and unspoilt corner of France where the Alps meet the Provence with beautiful historic villages clinging to rocky mountain sides decorated in season with rows of purple lavender flowers. Sheltered by the beautiful mountains, the privalidged position of the Baronnies and distinct climate gives the region a remarkable light that draws you into the rugged and unspoilt landscapes laid out before you. But it's not just your sight that will be bombarded, it is also a region where wild Thyme, Lavender, herbs and pine produce a wonderfully scented landscape, which will hit you the minute you step out outside. The Baronnies also has a favourable climate with the altitude off setting the heat of the Provence sun. Maison de Marguerite is a lovingly restored 19th century farm set in a peaceful location, with views towards the Mont Ventoux. It is an ideal base for our guided walking holiday being central to a number of walks in the French Baronnies region. Michele and Etienne will reserve you a warm and generous welcome in their home in South France. La Maison de Margeurite has 5 individually styled rooms each with a rustic and authentic style fitting in perfectly with this historic property. There is a an area with seats to relax in the shade of the 100 year old lime trees, as well as 3 hectares of garden. Not forgetting the large swimming pool where you can relax in the glorious Provence sun after a day's walking and exploring on our guided walking tour or our self guided walking holiday in the Baronnies. Breakfast and evening meals are taken in the refined and light dining room. Michele cooks delicious evening meals, with local ingedients and provence herbs from the garden. You may well be sharing the large dining table with other guests from all over the world, often walkers and cyclists, adding to the fun and interest. Wine provided with the four course meal helps the evenings to go along nicely. Relax on our guided walking holiday or our independent walking tour of the Baronnies and let the sights, sounds and calm of this unspoilt part of Provence, in a secluded corner of France take you far away from your day to day life. |
