This charming B&B is located in the northern Jura in eastern France and is used (subject to availability) for several nights during our guided walking holiday Jura Discovery. One of our walks leaves from the guest house, descending to Salins les Bains.
The Grange Combaret is located in peaceful surroundings in the heart of rural France on the first elevated plateau at about 600m in altitude in the small village of Cernans, close to the town of Salins les Bains. It is located on the edge of the famous Jura wine region making it an ideal location for our three walks discovering the gorges, waterfalls, vineyards and historic villages of this beautiful part of the Jura region. Nearby are the famous historic towns of Arbois and Poligny, as well as the medieval villages of Chateau Chalon and Baume les messieurs. In this wonderful spot Denis and Florence will give you a warm French welcome to their guest house. The Grange Combaret guest house is located on a working organic dairy farm. Situated among the lush green pastures of the Jura plateau, your stay here is a real breath of fresh air. The guest house is located in a large building which has been rebuilt in the traditional local style following a fire to the existing large barn. Original features have been reincorpoarted in this lovely building which brings together modern comforts with distinct local and historic styles. The building now serves as an authentic guest house full of French character, perfect for welcoming guest on our guided walking holidays. Downstairs there is a large dining room with a huge dining table, lovely open fire and original features. Meals are also taken in your guests own property which lies adjecent which has a lovely dining room. The upper floors include a gite and several large individually decorated ensuite bedrooms many of which have their own balcony with fantastic views across the Jura countrside. This provides the perfect spot to relax after a day's walking and exploring. Breakfast is a chance to enjoy local breads and jams, honey, cheese, eggs all produced locally, much of which comes directly from the farm. The breakfast is large and will set you up nicely for your day's walking. They also provide delicious evening meals where you can try a number of local Jura dishes, wonderfully prepared by Florence. She also enjoys preparing slightly more unusual dishes which are incredibly tasty, such as nettle soup. Their range of home made aperatifs is also a great surprise. They produce a number of fortified wines from many of the plants that grow naturaly on the farm. During your meal, your hosts will take great pleasure in giving you insights into the Jura region and their life on the farm. Wine provided with the four course meal helps the evenings to tick along nicely.
