This charming B&B is located in the northern Jura in eastern France and is used (subject to availability) for several nights during our guided walking holiday Jura Discoveryguided walking holiday Jura Discovery
The Bellevue guest house at Giron is located in peaceful surroundings in the heart of rural France on the slopes of the Jura mountains at 900m in altitude. It is actually in the French department of Ain but is an area that forms part of the upland or Haut Jura and as such makes a great place from which to walk and explore the southern uplands of the Jura. The Haut Jura is characterised by a series of ridges and combes dominated by forest and grazing land. The villages are characteristic of the area with simple sturdy buildings designed to withstand the harsh winters. From the south west facing balcony at the Bellevue guest house you can enjoy your aperatif whilst admiring the wonderful Jura hills as they gradually diminish in height to the west. Martine and Pierre will give you a warm French welcome and keep you entertained for your stay during your guided walking holiday. The Bellevue guest house is located in a small village, which functions as a small cross country skiing resort in winter. Situated among the lush green pastures of the upland Jura your stay, just like that in the northern Jura, is a real breath of fresh air, far away from the hustle and bustle and pollution of valley life. This guest house, which has the distinction of been labelled 4 corns in quality (Gite de France equivalent of 4 stars), operates as a B&B but has the feel of a perfect small independent hotel. There is a small reception area, a breakfast and coffee room and a wonderful library. There is also the possibility to use a sauna to help those muscles relax after walking. There is also a dining room with a large table and an area to relax and read inside, in case the weather is not good enough to sit on the balcony. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and are a good size. On both floors of this historic building the ambience is cosy with wood being dominent throughout. This is a quality guest house, but one which due to the decor and your guests is full of individual character. It serves as an authentic guest house full of French character, perfect for welcoming guest on our guided walking holidays. Breakfast is a chance to enjoy local breads and jams, honey, cheese, eggs all produced locally. The breakfast is large and will set you up nicely for your day's walking. They also provide delicious evening meals where you can try a number of local Jura dishes. For example during our 2009 guided walking holiday, we were served as main dishes Raclet using the local Bleu de Gex cheese and a veal steak cooked in a creme sauce with wild mushrooms. This is a popular guest house and there are always other guests (walkers, cyclists, tourists) with whom to converse. Local wine provided with the delicious four course meals helps the evenings to tick along nicely. As well as being an integral part of our guided walking holiday in the Jura region of France we would be happy to book this guest house for you as part of an independent sightseeing trip. Please contact us if you would like more information. |
